People watching...

You may know what I do for a living, but needless to say, it involves quite a bit of observation. How people interact, treat one another (especially when one holds authority over another and they think no one's looking), what they wear...the whole gamut.

Tonight's a great opportunity to see families at a high point. Dad's wearing their (likely still office attire) jackets and ties, daughter's dressed in their best, or most fashionable. Enjoying their time together, dancing, eating, dad's trying to get out of dancing, drinking (hopefully primarily by the dads...). It's nice to be a fly on the wall, watching. What I find interesting is the transition between the people I'm seeing tonight and what these young women turn into in say 5 or 10 years. When this pampering and enabling turning into a full-blown case of entitlement. When they then think they can instruct without a 'Please' or 'Thank You', condesending looks to all those who they feel are below them. When asking for a favor turns into all kind of demanding....what is that transition and what prompts it?
